110 TON AMMONIA SYNLOOP WASTE HEAT BOILER FROM ITALY TO USA
In the spring of 2014 we finalised the delivery of a pressure vessel of 110 mt from Italy to North Dakota via Milwaukee.
This order was obtained by our US colleagues from a top company in oil & gas, thanks to local expertise of all involved in this project. TPL was in charge for European operations and opted to avoid sea shipment via Pto Marghera in part charter, but took the calculated risk to tranship to Antwerp by road from Italy via Austria and Germany to the Port of Antwerp. Despite objection of Italian shipper who pushed to work on basis fob Pto Marghera, we managed to convince buyers to change buying condition from FOB to EXW and realised a substantial saving on the project logistics.
Route
The chosen route was very complex due to many roadblocks and permits, 2 additional bridge calculations were required in Germany. Therefore TPL has chosen to work with an Italian trucking company who inspired confidence and a good performance record. After joint prequalification of the Italian trucking company, we organised delivery till Antwerp and were present during loading in Ricengo (Italy). In Antwerp TPL took over and were present during the last part of the transport, during discharging and loading on board the vessel and survey loading and securing on board.
A safe journey to Milwaukee took place with a short transit time and transport was realised within the agreed timeframe. In Milwaukee, our USA colleagues continued the local transport till North Dakota and handled the vessel in most professional way. There were all kinds of permit issues with the state of Minnesota’s Department of Transportation. Minnesota has a lot of bridges, and apparently a couple of years ago there was a bridge collapse, so no one at the department wanted to clear the bridges, causing the mto making extra bridge clearance calculations.
